Bridging Learning with Practice: Tekla Awareness Session at Petrocon
At Petrocon Engineers & Consultants, we believe that true engineering education begins when classroom concepts meet real-world applications. Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming students from St. Joseph Engineering College to our Petrocon office for a Beginner-Level Tekla Awareness Session.
The session was designed to introduce students to Tekla Structures - one of the most powerful tools used globally in structural engineering and BIM (Building Information Modelling). Through this initiative, our goal was to help students gain first-hand exposure to how digital tools transform modern construction workflows.
What the session covered:
- 1) Introduction to Tekla and its applications in structural design and detailing
- 2) Understanding BIM coordination and model-based workflows
- 3) Live demonstration of how Tekla aids in accuracy, clash detection, and project visualization
- 4) Insights into real project case studies executed using Tekla at Petrocon
The session offered students a deeper understanding of how design models evolve into constructible projects, enhancing precision and collaboration between engineering teams.
Throughout the program, the students showed great curiosity - asking questions, engaging with our engineers, and exploring the possibilities of working with BIM technology in their future careers. At Petrocon, we remain committed to bridging the gap between academics and industry by providing young engineers with the exposure, tools, and insights that prepare them for real-world engineering challenges.
